IBML's ImageTrac Scanners are RoHS Compliant

October 16, 2006 – Birmingham, Ala. -- Imaging Business Machines, LLC (IBML) maker of the high-speed ImageTrac Color Scanning Platform, is pleased to announce that it is now shipping ImageTracs that are fully compliant with the European Union’s Restriction on the Use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. The Directive requires that original equipment manufacturers assure that their products are free of or contain limited amounts of mercury, cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). By reducing the amount of these hazardous substances in products manufactured today, the European Union will reduce the amount of hazardous substances in landfills tomorrow.

Over a year ago, IBML’s engineering team began reviewing each part of its ImageTrac systems to assure RoHS compliance. “Our goal in engineering was to evaluate each and every part that is used to produce our ImageTrac product line to assure the finished products met and or exceed the latest environmental standards worldwide,” says Robert Babanats, Executive Vice President of Engineering. The RoHS directive in Europe is setting the standards for other countries looking to establish environmental equipment standards. It is reported that as many as 20 other countries are in the process of adopting environmental directives similar to RoHS. “It is only a matter of time before all nations realize the importance of protecting the environment and establish standard to do so”, adds Babanats.
