IBML Races Away With BE5K Awards
All proceeds benefited Kid One Transport

March 3, 2006 -- BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The second annual BE5K was held Saturday, February 11, 2006 with over 600 runners participating. BE5K raised over $30,000 for Kid One. This event was held in conjunction with the Mercedes Marathon weekend.

Imaging Business Machines, LLC (IBML) received the award for Top Kid One Krew 2006. IBML had the largest corporate team with 55 participants who braved the freezing cold temperatures to help out Kid One. The corporation also had three members of their team win awards; Mark Appelbaum received the award for the fastest time in the Male Masters division, Justin Vice was the overall 2 nd place winner and Jonathan Schaeffer received an award for placing 2 nd in his age group. Phil Motches was IBML’s largest individual fund-raiser for Kid One boosting his pledges to more than $1,500.

IBML also had three marathon relay teams plus several other employees run in the Mercedes Marathon and half marathon.

Virginia Murphy , Executive Vice President, Imaging Business Machines, said that her company decided to form their own team to help Kid One raise funds so they can continue to provide transportation to our children in Alabama who would otherwise not be able to receive healthcare.

Kid One is a non-profit transit system that provides free transportation to children and expectant mothers who have little or no means of transportation for accessing needed medical care in 39 Alabama counties. Eligible riders include children under the age of 19 and expectant mothers who have a legitimate transportation need.

Kid One Transport System was founded in 1997 to assist the thousands of Alabama children diagnosed with various illnesses, some life-threatening, who were forced to forego medical care simply because their families had little to no means of transportation.

Since that time, Kid One has provided over 100,000 rides to and from medical care for thousands of children and expectant mothers.
