IBML Introduces New ImageTrac® III and
ImageTrac IV Document Scanners

Birmingham, Ala. - February 26, 2004 -- Imaging Business Machines (IBML) announced today the introduction of the new ImageTrac® III and ImageTrac IV document scanners. Both are part of the well-established ImageTrac family of scanners introduced by IBML in 1994.

Based on the same paper handling and image capture quality that has made IBML famous, these new scanners are targeted at very different market segments. The ImageTrac III will benefit many of our existing customers who have smaller regional operations that cannot justify a faster speed ImageTrac II or the new IV. It will also allow lower volume users to combine a number of low to medium speed scanners onto one platform and enjoy the benefits of the ImageTrac scanning previously reserved for high volume operations. The ImageTrac III, which can capture up to 100 pages per minute, is base-priced at $125,000 and features IBML's new 300 dpi color cameras (duplex), barcode reader, document serializer, and two pockets.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer our technology to a much broader market without compromising any of the quality, functionality, software, and services that our high volume customers enjoy today in over 25 countries around the world. ImageTrac III is what the market and our resellers have been asking for and now they will have it," said IBML Robert Sbrissa, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.

ImageTrac IV is targeted to the highest of volume processors and will likely be focused on item processing applications because of its high speed, hi-resolution color capture, integrated ICR for document identification and indexing, and pocket options. It will also continue to be a very cost effective scanner for mixed document and multi-function environments. In an item processing mode it will capture up to 1,000 documents per minute and is expected to be an even stronger contender at the high end than ImageTrac II.

"There continues to be demand at the very high end that is not being addressed well by the document processing community. Everyone keeps saying that volumes are decreasing, and they are slowly, but there are still many applications with very big volumes. Legislation like the Check 21 Act is also putting a bigger emphasis on image quality that only color can accurately address," said IBML founder, president and CEO Gary Murphy.

While Imaging Business Machines believes its new line-up of scanners will be the first to cover such a large segment of the integrated document capture market, the SoftTrac® software is where the company believes the battle will be won. ImageTrac III will be powered by SoftTrac Lite and will include preconfigured applications that address specific vertical market solutions. ImageTrac IV's SoftTrac will soon feature additional recognition parameters and detailed sorting capabilities.

Imaging Business Machines provides intelligent scanning technology for the most demanding document imaging applications, including mixed documents of different weights, sizes and compositions. The company's ImageTrac Scanning Platform consists of the ImageTrac scanners, SoftTrac® user interface and professional services. ImageTrac scanners offer front and rear color image capture, multiple image outputs, barcode, 2D barcode, ICR, MICR and up to 32 sort pockets. Every day, the ImageTrac Scanning Platform captures millions of color and bitonal images for our customers in 25 countries. Visit www.ibml.com for more information.
