About Our President
In August 2006, IBML named Derrick Murphy president upon company founder (and Derrick’s father) Gary Murphy’s retirement after 35 years in the document processing industry. With over 20 years of experience himself in manufacturing, operations and sales, Derrick works to continually improve IBML’s core operations and world class products and services. As Derrick oversees all the day-to-day activities of the business, he continues to move IBML forward as an entrepreneurially-spirited company.
Derrick has a strong track record in the document processing business dating back to 1987 when he helped start and grow the family’s previous business Hybrid Systems, which produced the very first PC-based image enabled item transport. Before he was named president of IBML, Derrick was the Executive Vice President of Operations from the inception of IBML. In that capacity, Derrick has overseen IBML’s rapid growth. As President, Derrick brings new direction, vision and leadership to the company while still maintaining IBML’s historical high standard of product quality, customer satisfaction and employee development.
In support of the continued upward momentum of IBML, Derrick introduced the four C’s: Cooperation, Communication, Consideration and Coordination, as guiding principles by which IBML continues to grow and succeed.
Under Derrick’s leadership, American Capital Strategies Ltd. invested in a One-Stop Buyout ™ of IBML in June 2007. With this investment, Derrick is leading the company to take advantage of American Capital’s investment management expertise and combine it with IBML’s experienced executive team to maximize the growth potential of the company. Partnership with American Capital is planned to expand the reach of IBML’s products and services and build on its leadership in the Document Capture industry.
