Corporate History
Imaging Business Machines (IBML) manufactures and markets high-end document imaging hardware, software and customer services. The company's primary product is the ImageTrac® Scanning Platform, which consists of the high-speed, high capacity ImageTrac scanners that convert paper documents into color and bitonal digital images and the SoftTrac scanner application software. The benefits of this intelligent document processing include less paper handling, automation of data flow and data entry and electronic filing of documents.
The Company was founded in 1992 by Gary Murphy, who set out to develop a revolutionary scanning platform that would combine page and item processing with color imaging. With over 30 years of experience in the high-speed document handling and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) world, IBML identified an industry need for a solution capable of handling the growing volume of documents considered "difficult to scan." In the process of engineering a transport capable of capturing intermixed documents at a fast throughput rate, groundbreaking doubles detection, document registration, pinchless paper movement and pocketing technologies were pioneered.
The Dynamic ImageTrac Scanning Platform
By 1994, a large Australian airline began using the ImageTrac scanner to capture color images of passenger tickets. Since then, ImageTrac scanners have become an airline "industry standard," capturing images of over 1.5 million passenger tickets per day.
Today, the ImageTrac Scanning Platform is employed across several industries in a variety of complex applications such as wholesale lockbox, tax returns and payments, passport applications, document archive, pharmaceutical prescription processing, remittance, airline tickets, accounts receivables, test scoring and order entry applications.
Many of the country's largest banks use the ImageTrac platform to capture color images of forms, checks, invoices, envelopes and other documents. In the state and federal government sectors, the Company has earned an unparalleled reputation for providing the flexibility, speed and high quality color images required to process tax returns and passport applications along with introducing high speed 2D barcode recognition. Recently, companies have come to rely on the ImageTrac platform to drive high quality color images of invoices, passenger tickets, checks, legal records and statements to the Internet.
